Wednesday, September 06, 2017

THE Special Action Force (SAF) is recruiting personnel to activate additional five battalions to boost the country’s defense against future internal and external threats, an official announced on Tuesday, September 5.

SAF is an elite unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) trained in both law enforcement and combat operations.

Senior Superintendent Romulo Cleve Taboso, Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division chief, said they have stopped the processing of the Second Cycle Police Officer 1 Attrition Recruitment Program to pave the way for the PNP-SAF to recruit new PO1s.

Taboso said the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula through the PNP Online Recruitment Application System (PNP Oras) will facilitate the transfer of the 331 police applicants of the attrition recruitment program who are willing to transfer join the SAF.

Taboso said those qualified applicants who are willing and interested to join the elite force of the PNP can file their applications with his office at Camp Colonel Romeo Abendan.

Camp Abendan houses the headquarters of the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula in the village of Mercedes.

Taboso said they may also register through the PNP Oras.

He said the applicants, once they qualify, will undergo a six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at National Training Institute for SAF School in Laguna and another six-month Field Training Program.

From there, he said they will proceed with the specialized training course, the six-month Commando Course.

The recruitment of additional personnel is in line with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to build credible police force. (SunStar Philippines)
