A HIGH-VALUE target (HVT) drug suspect was killed, while a businessman tagged as drug syndicate member was wounded, on two separate gun attacks in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported on Monday, October 2.

The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula identified the fatality as Generoso Bayron alias Poloy, 43, a resident of Purok 1 in the village of Mias, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Wounded was Abunor Malido alias Norex, 44, a businessman, and a resident of the village of Poblacion, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur.

The police said Bayron was driving a motorcycle when shot by one of two men riding on another motorcycle around 5:50 p.m., Sunday, October 1, along the province road in the village of Uno, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The police said Bayron is listed as HVT level three drug personality in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.

Bayron was rushed but failed to reach the hospital alive, the police said.

Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of M-16 Armalite rifle. The suspects, who were clad in bonnet masks, sped off after the incident.

The police said Malido was shot by a lone gunman around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the public market of Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur.

The police said Malido and his wife, Jormia, were cleaning vegetables at his stall when the gunman arrived and shot him. His wife was unscathed.

The victim was hospitalized while the suspect escaped, the police said. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
