The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (Western Mindanao) reported the incident happened around 7:45 p.m., Monday, October 16, at Purok 3 in the village of Mercedes, Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur.

The police identified the fatality as Jocelyn Bakiki, 47, a housewife.

Wounded were Mami Bakiki, 57, a village councilor, and Abnerabbe Bakiki, 14.

Investigation showed the victims were eating dinner when the suspect and son of (Mami) Bakiki, Jome, arrived and was drunk.

The elder Bakiki called the attention of Jome and told him to refrain from drinking as it is not good for the health since the suspect is searching for job.

The suspect went straight to the bedroom of his father and was already holding a grenade when he went out.

The victims were rushed but Jocelyn, the stepmother of the suspect, failed to reached alive in the hospital.

The suspect was arrested by responding village officials and was turned over to the police for the filing of appropriate charges. (SunStar Philippines)
