MEMBERS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) backed by policemen have seized P1.2-million worth of illegal drugs from a suspected big-time drug pusher in Tawi-Tawi, an official announced on Thursday.
PDEA-Zamboanga Regional Director Lyndon Aspacio identified the arrested suspects as Alside Ibang alias Al, 22, who was known as a carpenter in the community.
Aspacio said Ibang was arrested in a drug bust around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday in the village of Nalil, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
Confiscated from Ibang’s possession were some 250 grams of suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth P1,250,000, inluding the P2,000 marked money used by the PDEA agents.
He said that cases for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed in court against the suspect.
The arrest was made two days after President Rodrigo Duterte issued a memorandum ordering the Philippines National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies to rejoin the government’s war against illegal drugs.
Aspacio welcomed the order of President Duterte to the PNP and other law enforcement agencies to assist them in the anti-illegal drugs campaign.
The confiscation of P1.2 million of suspected shabu made on Wednesday, December 6, was the second biggest haul by the PDEA in the province of Tawi-Tawi.
The first was P1.5 million worth of suspected shabu seized by joint PDEA and Navy personnel on November 20.
