PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has assured full support to all local chief executives in Visayas and Mindanao irrespective of their political affiliations.
Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the President made this declaration on Monday in a meeting with local chief executives in Cebu City tackling all issues besetting the country.
Salazar said the President vowed that every local government unit (LGU) would be getting a fair share under his administration.
“If there’s anything I can really do for you, personally or if you want my intervention in your governance, may nahirapan kayo dito o kulang ang pera ninyo, sabihin mo lang,” Salazar said quoting President Duterte as saying.
She said that it is the priority of the President to fulfill his campaign promises such as eliminating corruption and illegal drugs, maintaining peace and order and forging a lasting peace in Mindanao.
She said the President also vowed to step down from office if the country has successfully shifted to a federal government by 2020.
She said the President also discussed during the meeting about the looming problem of terrorism in the country citing the threat of regrouping terrorist networks.
She said Duterte stressed the national government with the help of local chief executives must address the problem swiftly as the terrorists “are spreading all throughout the Philippines.”
