A TOP official of the police assigned in the island province of Basilan, south of Zamboanga city, was relieved of his post.

However, Chief Superintendent Bensali Jabarani, Autonomous Region police director, clarified that Basilan police director, Senior Superintendent Salik Macapantar, was promoted to a higher position.

Jabarani said Macapantar is now the new chief of directorial staff at his headquarters, a position higher than provincial director.

The order for Macapantar to assume as the new chief of directorial staff took effect Wednesday.

Jabarani said Macapantar was given a new position since he overstayed as provincial police director of Basilan.

He said Senior Superintendent Abubakar Tulawie is now assigned as acting Basilan police director. (Bong Garcia)
