Motorcycle-riding men kill bus fare collector

A FARE collector of a locally-owned bus firm was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Zamboanga City, the local police reported.
The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) reported that the incident took place around 11 p.m. Monday in the village of Putik, 4.6 kilometers east of this city.

The ZCPO identified the fatality as Joen Leonardo, 33, who succumbed to bullet wounds in the body.
Leonardo is a fare collector of the Liza May bus company that plies from Zamboanga City to nearby provinces in the region.
Initial police investigation disclosed that the victim was shot by one of three men riding-tandem in a motorcycle that sped to unknown direction after the incident.
The police learned that the victim has received death threats days prior to the incident.
Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, ZCPO director, said investigation continues to determine the motive as well as unmask the suspects behind the incident. (Bong Garcia)
