TWO of the three weightlifters from Zamboanga City have reaped medals in their respective matches in the ongoing Asian Youth/Junior weightlifting championship in North Korea.

Professor Elbert Atilano, the group's head coach said Hidilyn Diaz snatched the gold medal in the 58-kilogram category for Youth Girls, while Nestor Colonia got the silver medal in the 56-kilogram category for Youth Boys.

Diaz is the country's bet in the recent Biejing Olympics' Snatch, Clean and Jerk competition.

Atilano said another Filipino, Jaymie Mendoza, is still playing the 53-kilogram category for women as of this posting.

Atilano said he has high hopes that Mendoza would also reap medal in her category.

The 10-day event started last November 30 and ends December 9.
