THE Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) officially opened Saturday in Zamboanga City with 17 delegations only, as the National Capital Region (NCR) skipped the competition.
Project Director Elbert Atilano said the NCR did not participate due to the recent death of NCR Prisaa head Bren Perez.

Prisaa National Executive Director Dr. Robert Milton Calo said some Prisaa-member schools also failed to organize a delegation for this year's athletic event.
Athletes were further trimmed down to more than 3,000 from 4,593 with the non-participation of Prisaa-member schools from Negros Occidental.
The Western Visayas delegates declined to comment on the non-participation of the Negros Occidental schools.
The Prisaa 2011 reeled off with a grand parade from Pettit Barrack to the Joaquin F. Enriquez Jr. Memorial Sports Complex.
