6 Zamboangueños compete in Asia-Pacific bodybuilding contest

SIX Zamboangueños will represent the Philippines in the four-day 2011 5th Asia-Pacific International Bodybuilding and Figure Championship to be held in Boracay Island.
Zamboanga City delegation head Kit Mortera said the competition will be held from Thursday, April 28 until May 1.

Mortera said the Zamboangueño bodybuilders were chosen to form the Philippine Team and vie against nine other countries such as Australia, Canada, Holland, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and United States of America (USA).
The six musclemen from Zamboanga City are Joey Acar, Roger Atilano, Zaldy Diaz, Ricardo Francisco, Ramsey Hamja, and Joenard Pielago.
Mortera said the winner in the 2011 5th Asia-Pacific International Bodybuilding and Figure Championship will represent Asia in the Mr. Universe competition in Germany on November, this year.
Lito Mabalot, the delegation coach, said the group will fly to Boracay on Wednesday, April 27, a day before the competition.
Mabalot said bodybuilding is not only a sport, but a means to become physically fit. He is confident that his team will win in the competition. (Bong Garcia)
