Zamboanga City Water District General Manager Rey Leonardo Vasquez, the ZCGCC president, said the two-day golf tournament is scheduled to be held from September 18 to 19 at the ZCGCC in the village of Upper Calarian, west of this city.
Vasquez said that golf amateur standouts from as far as Manila, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod and Bukidnon have signified interest in participating in the two-day golf tourney.
A handicapping system will be put into play to rate the participants base on their playing abilities in the sports of golf, Vasquez said.
He said that preparations, including accommodations of the out-of-town participants are being rushed to make the two-day tournament a successful event.
The historic ZCGCC was founded in 1910 by General John Pershing, the then governor of the Moro province.
The ZCGCC sits atop one of Mindanao's premiere 18-hole golf layouts with winding fairways, dog legs, and elevated greens and with lots of trees. (Bong Garcia)
