Elumba, Ocampo dominate Freemasons golf tournament

ISAAC Elumba and Dr. Oscar Ocampo have bagged the most coveted awards -- lowest gross and lowest net -- in the just-concluded two-day Freemasons Golf for Charity at the Zamboanga Golf and Country Club.

Elumba scored 72 even par and won the lowest gross, while Ocampo, who won the lowest net, finished the tournament with 11 under par.

Tournament director Raymond described the awards received by Elumba the tournament’s “cream of the crop.”

In the Mason Division, Dr. Antonio Feliciano won a trophy and a blue jacket with specially designed patch as he scored 15 under.

In Class A division, Emir Abutazil emerged as the champion with a score of 68 four under.

Abutazil was tailed by Jonas Suaso and Joseph Dy as the first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively, as they both scored 70 two under.

Tony Calabria won the championship trophy in the Class B division as he scored 62 ten under. The first runner-up was Roman Yeo with 66 six under and William Chiong landed as the second runner-up with 68 four under.

Judge Gregorio Dela Peña, who scored 62 ten under, won the championship trophy in the Class C division.

He was tailed as first runner-up by second district Representative Erico Basilio Fabian who scored 67 five under and Bebot Dela Cruz as second runner-up with even par.

In the seniors division, Alvin Tan won the championship trophy with a score of 63 nine under, followed by Antonio Yanga as first runner-up with 64 eight under and Rudy Maadil as second runner-up with 65 seven under.

Angelo Marquez captured the championship trophy in the guest division as he scored 69 three under.

Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) commander Rear Admiral Armando Guzman and Reuben Chiong landed first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively, in the guest division with the scores of 70 two under.

The golf tournament, which kicked off last Saturday and ended last Sunday, was held in line with the celebration of 19th year anniversary of Samboangan Lodge No. 310.

Padayhag said the two-day tournament was also aimed to raise funds to support the Samboangan Lodge’s various projects.

The two-day tournament, with Best 18 format of play, was participated by golfers from the cities of Dipolog and Manila and Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
