Trade department extends Business Name registration discount

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry (DTI) has extended the 50 percent discount on business name registration fee for another six months, an official said Monday.

DTI Zamboanga Peninsula Director Nazrullah Manzur said the extension of the discount until June 30, 2010 is to encourage employment-generating activities after recent natural calamities resulted in losses in jobs and livelihood.

Manzur said DTI's Administrative Order 09-11, which took effect in January 1 this year, kept the original registration and business name renewal for sole proprietorships at P150.

However, Manzur said the P15 fee for documentary stamp still applies.

Manzur said the DTI first lowered the fee in January of last year to encourage displaced workers to go into business. (Bong Garcia)
