Tagasilay village chief Esmer Francisco, 31, was shot to death by a lone gunman while he was talking to some members of his family and some of his constituents in his residence.
Corpus said they are also waiting for Francisco's widow, who was with the village chief at the time of the incident, to execute an affidavit in preparation for the filing of the case.
Meanwhile, the city office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced that Francisco will be replaced by the number one elected village councilor following the law of succession.
The elected number one kagawad is Rogelio Juela.
The village officials will also have to recommend another one fill in the slot for councilor that will be left vacant as an offshoot of succession.
Each village must have an elected village chief and seven kagawads. (Bong Garcia)
