RISING boxing star Anthony "Rocky" Marcial, a product of Golpe-Golpe na Barangay (Boxing at the village) program of second district Rep. Erico Basilio Fabian, has retained his crown when he knocked his Thai opponent in an encounter last Saturday in Cebu City.

Fabian said Marcial knocked down Vacharakit Senayan in the first round of their 12-round match as the Zamboangueño fighter unleashed jab straight and powerful upper cuts.

With Marcial's victory, he retained his World Boxing Organization (WBO) oriental super featherweight crown and improved his record to 12 wins, no loss, with 11 knockouts.

Senayan, who has been undefeated fighter, fell to 11 wins, 1 loss with 7 knockouts.

Fabian said Marcial will see action against Jovy Merca, the number 6 Philippine Boxing Federation lightweight contender in a boxing event on Feb. 13 at the Zamboanga City Coliseum.
