84 paramilitary men complete training

A TOTAL of 84 Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) Active Auxiliary II graduated Monday, June 18, after completing their Basic Military Training conducted by the Task Force Davao (TFD).

TFD commander Colonel Noloasco Mempin, in an interview Monday, said the 84 newly-graduated Cafgu successfully finished the 45-day training inside their headquarters in Sta. Ana Pier, Davao City.

These new CAA II will serve as force multipliers of the TFD personnel who will be deployed in downtown areas of Davao City and other major entry points for counter-terrorism campaign.

“It will help a lot kasi alam natin yong mga special Cafgu natin are mostly professionals and they are indeed from Davao City as a resident so it could be a big help in terms of monitoring and assist us in implementing security measures sa Davao City,” Mempin said.

They underwent practical exercises and immediate action drills, which include the law enforcement operations and physical test. They were also taught theories on military professionalism and skills for highly-urbanized security operations.

He said 54 of the graduates replaced former Cafgus who were terminated or were enlisted in the regular force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines while the remaining 30 were part of their request from the city government of Davao last year due to lack of personnel.

Two companies of CAA II under TFD were filled up. The Department of National Defense had already approved the three companies for Davao City alone.

These personnel will be deployed in different detachments of Task Force Davao in Lasang, Calinan, and Toril, Davao City.
