Bacolod school welcomes new batch of student-chefs

EMBARKING on a bigger journey, the Culinary Arts of First Academy (Cafa) has welcomed the second batch of its culinary students in rites in Barangay 36, Bacolod City on Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Moved by the Dormido family's passion and love for cooking, Cafa was established in October 2020.

It is one of the only two schools to be accredited by the World Association of Master Chefs (WAMC) in Southeast Asia.

It had also undergone all necessary processes to make sure that it has to meet the quality teaching of international standards in terms of teaching and skills training.

Cafa is also accredited by the Institute for Culinary and Business Management (ICBM).

Its growing community is proof of the institution's dedication to meet high academic and practical expectations of the students.

Classes for batch two will start on June 14, 2021, while that for batch one is still ongoing.

Chef de Cuisine Mark Jason Carmona and Sous-Chef/Instructor Chiara Repullo gave the kitchen rules during the event.

Cafa Department Head and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Fast Inc. Marilyn Elise Dormido, in her message, emphasized that to become a chef, it does not only limit to involve practicing and learning the skill, techniques and measure of each ingredient inside a recipe.

"It involves a lot of passion , good taste, I mean good taste buds, and love and creativity to what you are doing as that reflects very well on your work," she added.

A 10-month training in Cafa goes with an internship program in a chosen local and/or national partner.

It aims to help students reach their dreams and goals to work internationally.

With their acquired knowledge, skills and unwavering passion to cook, it is possible that they become world-class culinary artists, the academy said.

Recelyn Dormido, president of the Board of Directors, said that Cafa will be the students' first step in achieving their desired jobs in the future.

The event was also graced by television personality, host and businessman of Japanese Brazilian descent Daniel Matsunaga. (PR)
