Capitol eyes use of BacTrac system

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is studying a proposal to implement the BacTrac system, which has been implemented in Bacolod City as part of the ongoing efforts to address the Covid-19 cases in the province.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said they need to study the system first as there are some who are questioning the system if it would violate the privacy of individuals.

Similar technologies and software are also being studied by the Provincial Government and they are currently targeting the system, which is the easiest to use and could be used in rural settings.

Diaz pointed out the need for studying them, as some of the province's residents do not own a mobile phone, or do not have the resources to print an identification card.

Meanwhile, Diaz said the province's Command Center is nearing completion and it would be used for coordinating with the Emergency Operations Centers of every local government unit in Negros Occidental.

Diaz said once completed, it would be much easier for the local government units in the province to share their resources.
