CEBU Gov. Hilario Davide said they will give financial assistance to the family of the late Corporal Reymund Paracuelles.

Davide told reporters that he plans to meet with Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale and members of the Provincial Board to discuss the release of the financial aid for Paracuelles.

Paracuelles, a native of Badian, Cebu, was one of the soldiers who died in the ongoing fighting between government forces and members of the Maute group in Marawi City.

Paracuelles, 30, was among the personnel deployed as support for the combat engineering team when he was hit during an exchange of gunfire with the Maute group.

He was a member of the Philippine Army’s 525th Engineer Combat Battalion.

Paracuelles is survived by his wife and a two-year-old son.

Meanwhile, Davide also said that they plan to send the P1-million financial aid to Marawi City within the month.

The financial assistance to Marawi City had to be put on hold as Capitol officials are still discussing how to send the aid.

Davide said they are apprehensive about sending a representative to Marawi City due to the ongoing conflict there.

Aside from Capitol, several other organizations in Cebu are sending aid to the victims of the Marawi crisis.
