BALANGA CITY, Bataan -- Local Councils for the Protection of Children (LCPCs) in Bataan will undergo functionality assessment in March 2020.

Chaired by Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) inter-agency monitoring task force will conduct six days of on-site assessment of the 11 towns and lone city.

“We are doing this assessment to see if the organized LCPC in the municipal or city level is functioning well or not. If they are already highly functional, then we should make sure they sustain their status,” Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Head Marilyn Tigas said in a PCWC meeting.

Necessary documents to be presented by each LCPC will be assessed on the areas of organization, meetings, policies, plans, budget and accomplishments.

LCPCs garnering 80-100 percent in the indicators will be tagged as an ideal level of functionality, 51-79 percent will be considered as mature, 21-50 percent for progressive and 20 percent and below scores for the basic level.

Prior to the on-site visits, validators will be reoriented on the tools to be utilized for the assessment.

“We should also capacitate the new members of our validation team so when they conduct the on-site visit, they will be well-equipped during the assessment,” Tigas, who also co-chairs PCWC, added.

In 2019, ten LCPCs in the province were awarded for attaining the ideal level of functionality. (PIA-Central Luzon)
