A GRATEFUL 3rd District Representative-elect Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. Saturday, May 18, promised to continue his social programs for the district, vowing not to ruin the trust of the 226,785 voters who expressed their support for him in the recent elections.

“I am more than humbled by the support given to me by my constituents. I will strive to win their trust even more,” Gonzales said, adding that his programs on health, education and infrastructure will continue as usual.

Gonzales said he will embark on a district-wide tour to meet with constituents and deliver vital programs. One particular program is the Iskolar ng Dong. Many students from the district come from poor families. Only half of those who graduated from elementary are expected to reach high school due to economic reasons and less than a handful are expected to pursue college degrees.

Gonzales said he has instructed his staff to give due attention to students who would like to pursue their education and finish college degrees. He said that people who have college degrees have greater chances of getting good employment.

The scholars are under his “Iskolar ng Dong” program that caters to indigents with the drive and willingness to learn and finish their studies and is a no-grade requirement assistance program.

Gonzales is also optimistic that Pampanga will benefit from the support it had given to the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial bets, most of which are in the 12 spots for this term’s senatorial line up.

He said many Kapampangans know the PDP-Laban bets, adding that the province can now lobby for more legislative support in the coming years.
