'Oplan Semana Santa' to start next week

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will implement the “Oplan Semana Santa 2015” starting next week.

Supt. Calixto Mabugat, officer-in-charge of BCPO, said he ordered all the station commanders to intensify the checkpoint operations within their respective areas of jurisdiction.

He said uniformed personnel will be assigned to churches, sea ports and bus terminals, and beach resorts.

The BCPO will set up public assistance centers near areas of convergence to help implement the “Lakbay Alalay” for the motorists.

Mabugat reminded all the station commanders to intensify visibility patrol operations and to assign policemen to different residential subdivisions to pre-empt possible operations of “akyat-bahay” suspects.

“It’s expected that there will be an influx of people to different churches. We advise the public to secure their residence, especially the electrical connections, before leaving for Lenten pilgrimage and not to bring valuables to avoid attracting the attention of robbers,” he added.

Meanwhile, the BCPO is also stepping up its checkpoint operations for the 46th anniversary of the New People’s Army (NPA) on March 29.

Mabugat said station commanders should secure vital installations within their areas.

The rebels group escalates their activities every NPA anniversary, he said.

In a related development, the BCPO will also implement the “Oplan Summer Vacation 2015” to ensure the safety of travelers in the city.

Station commanders were directed to assign two personnel to each beach resorts and churches.

Mabugat also ordered Insp. Stephen Boniba, head of City Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG), to intensify their intelligence monitoring this summer vacation to pre-empt the possible entry of illegal drugs in the city.

The CAIDSOTG was tasked to monitor the sea ports and bus terminals and the areas of Barangays 2 and Banago.
