PNP to implement Oplan Tokhang on celebrities

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Ronald Dela Rosa said Monday that the next target of the PNP's Oplan Tokhang will be the celebrities who are on the drug list of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Sa mga artista kung ibigay ni Presidente sa akin 'yung listahan na 'yun, gusto mo i-Tokhang natin sila? Ito-tokhang natin," Dela Rosa said.

Dela Rosa's pronouncement came after Volunteer Against Crime and Corruption head and incoming Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman Martin Diño that there are at least 50 actors and TV personalities in Duterte's drug list.

Diño said 10 of the 50 celebrities are actually suspected pushers while the others are users, mostly of party drugs.

“Katukin natin sa kani-kaniyang bahay, kani-kaniyang TV station. Surrender na kayo kasi identified kayo na user,” said Dela Rosa.

“I-Tokhang natin. Tinokhang nga natin yung mga high-end subdivisions diyan, sila pa na public figure. They should be open to the public,” he added.

However, Dela Rosa, who just arrived from a week-long anti-drug and counter-terrorism conference in Colombia, said he is yet to get a copy of the said list.

Meanwhile, Kapisanan ng mga Artista sa Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon president Rex Cortez has expressed support on the government's effort to eradicate illegal drugs in the country.

He, however, urged Duterte to let celebrities on the said list to go through due process. (Sunnex)
