FOUR rookies made it to the All-Star Selection for the upcoming 2016 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) All-Star Games at the Cebu Coliseum this Sunday.
Shaquille Imperial of the Southwestern University Cobras, Condrad Catapusan of the University of San Carlos Warriors, Gileant Delator of the University of Cebu Webmasters and Liberian Bassieru Sackor of the University of the Visayas Green Lancers will get to strut their wares in the mid-season basketball spectacular – where star players from every team will showcase their prowess in a game.
Appearing for his fourth straight All-Star game is SWU Cobras star guard Marc Jayven Tallo who will be joined by teammates Imperial, Jovannie Luz, Ian Ortega, Congolese Quentin Nzuzi and Bernie Bregondo who will be playing for the East team along with Catapusan and USC teammates, Lucky Ecarma, Kevin Oleodo, Victor Rabat and Ian Tagapan. UC players Delator and his teammates Garciano Puerto, Justin Dacalos and Peter Paul Codilla will complete the team that will be coached by Rommel Rasmo. It was supposed to be rookie coach Kern Sesante, but he is still out of the country.
For the West Team, Sackor will be joined by his teammates Rey Suerte, Alfred Codilla, Joshue Segumpan, Monic Soliva and Jerome Napao and will be reinforced by USJ-R’s Ralph Jude Dinolan, Miguel Gastador, Jaybie Mantilla and Nelvin Navarra, USPF’s Lyndon Colina, Gilberto Sastrillas and Roy Quiachon, and CIT-U’s John Lucera and Marlo Pono. Albert Alocillo of USPF will call the shots for the West Team.
High school
Meanwhile in the high school All-Star reigning MVP Raul Jancork Cabahug of UV Baby Lancers will try to defend his title as he leads the West Team that includes teammates Froiland Maglasang, Marvin Oche and Mike Bayaton, UC’s John Cuyos, Noah Enriquez, Luigi Gabisan and Gelmart Umpad, USJ-R’s Dave Ando, John Gonzaga and Joshua Ortiz, USPF’s Gabriel Cometa and Vincent Lequin and CIT-U’s Marion Abinuman and Ian Ares.
The East Team includes Jed Colonia, Errol Pastor, Cristian Manaytay, Travis Mantua and Andrew Velasco of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, John Damolo, Juan Miguel Dela Torre and Alje Mendez of Don Bosco Greywolves, Dave Manlapat, Harvey Sanchez and James Tempra of Cebu Eastern College, Patrick Montaño and Diether Quijada of SWU and Rafael Garro and Gerald Iñigo of USC Baby Warriors.
Phil Mercader of UV, another rookie coach will call the shots for the West team while Rod Del Rosario of CEC is the head coach for the East Team.
