Cop’s son, 6 others nabbed in drug bust

SEVEN persons, including a son of a policeman, were arrested in separate drug busts conducted by the police in Negros Island in the past two days.

In Sipalay City, James Lucasan, 20, the top drug personality under the city’s target list, was arrested in Barangay San Jose on Wednesday, September 28.

Senior Inspector Romeo Vargas, chief of Sipalay City Police Station, said that Lucasan, whose policeman father went on absent without leave, yielded five sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and the P300 marked money.

Vargas said Lucasan is both a drug pusher and a user, who earlier surrendered through Oplan Tokhang.

The police chief said that Lucasan allegedly supplies shabu to newly identified drug suspects.

Vargas said that Lucasan’s uncle, who is his mother’s brother, was also arrested for the same violation last month.

Lucasan’s father is a police non-commissioned officer assigned at Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo).

In Silay City, three persons were collared when police raided a house at Sitio Beraño, Barangay Lantad on Tuesday.

Police identified the target subject as Guderian Velardo, 43, of Barangay Balaring, who is under the city’s drugs target list. His companions were Charito Doruelo, 40, of Silay City, and alleged drug runner Harris Pasinabo, 26, of E.B. Magalona town.

Police recovered from the three suspects seven sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, and two cellphones.

Chief Inspector Mark Anthony Darroca, chief of Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit (PAIDU), said the recovered illegal drugs have an estimated value of P40,000.

Darroca said Velardo has been monitored sourcing drug supply in Bacolod City.

In Himamaylan City, Leslie Octavio, 29, was arrested after she sold shabu to a police agent for P500 in Barangay Aguisan on Tuesday.

On Monday, fish vendor Alfonso Gonzaga Jr., 42, was arrested for possession of illegal drugs at Sitio Pokatod, Barangay II in La Carlota City.

Gonzaga’s house was raided by police by virtue of search warrant issued by Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez of Regional Trial Court Branch 63.

Police seized from Gonzaga a sachet of suspected shabu.

In Canlaon City, Jose Romeo Villegas, 32, was arrested after he yielded four sachets of shabu, P107 cash, and the P300 marked money at the public market in Barangay Panubigan on Tuesday.
