WHO can forget this quote attributed to Former senator Miriam Santiago when she was bypassed for the position of chief justice of the Supreme Court in 2006?
Or when she told immigration employees who called for her ouster as commissioner, “Go stick your finger in the wall socket” and “They should be chopped into a thousand pieces and fed to the sharks in Manila Bay.”
Tough, fiery, mean. But former senator Santiago, who died yesterday of cancer at 71, also said these lovable pickup lines:
-- “Ibenta mo na ang bahay mo. Total nandito ka na, nakatira sa puso ko.”
-- “Sana naka-off ang ilaw, para tayo na lang ang naka-on.”
-- “Para kang hold-upper. Lahat ibibigay ko. Huwag lang akong saktan.”

Did you know that Miriam Santiago had more “Lady” titles than any other Filipina, including Mrs. Imelda Romualdez-Marcos?
She was known as Dragon Lady, Platinum Lady, Incorruptible Lady, Tiger Lady and Iron Lady of Asia.

Next at the House
The House of Representatives committee looking into the alleged corruption of Sen. Leila de Lima has been asked by Liberal Party senators not to show the sex video showing her and a male partner as it would be illegal and disrespectful to a senator.
Never mind the disrespect as they must have thrown respect out of the building but the legality must be considered.
The senators warned the congressmen and congresswomen that they’d be guilty of violating the anti-voyeurism law, the anti-wiretapping law and the penal code provision on slander by deed.
So what, some House members might retort, “So, sue. You won’t deprive us of fine entertainment.”
