Drugs seized from construction worker

A CONSTRUCTION worker died after he was stabbed by his fellow worker at Cattleya Street in Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on Thursday, September 29.

Police identified the fatality as Alex Canillo, 22.

Chief Inspector Charles Gever, head of Police Station 7, said Canillo sustained a lone stab wound on the neck when he was attacked by Mark Cosio, 25.

Cosio was accompanied by a certain Joshua Fernandez and two others when the incident happened. However, the three were able to escape while Cosio was arrested in a follow-up operation at Purok Kabugwason.

Police, in the meantime, refused to divulge the names of the other two suspects as the manhunt operation is ongoing.

Investigators are eyeing grudge as the motive.

Gever said the group of Cosio committed the crime after Canillo and his group previously shot Fernandez that caused misunderstanding between them.

He added that Cosio was also involved in a stabbing incident in 2007, where he stabbed the victim 15 times. He was also charged with robbery last year.

Gever said Cosio will face murder charges and additional drug charges after he yielded two sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and drug paraphernalia.
