Drug pusher shot dead

A DRUG pusher was shot to death by two unidentified men at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 in Bacolod City on Friday, September 30.

Police identified the fatality as Alain Ortiz, 40, of Victorina Heights, Barangay Mansilingan.

Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias Jr., head of Police Station 2, said Ortiz was riding in a pedicab when the assailant fired at him at close range and fled.

Ortiz sustained four gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Villarias said Ortiz was subjected to Oplan Tokhang but did not surrender.

He added that they are eyeing drug war or failed drug transaction behind Ortiz’s death.

Police recovered two cellular phones and drug paraphernalia from the victim.

Investigation is ongoing.

Arrested

Meanwhile, two persons were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in the past two days.

In Negros Oriental, Ar Argel Arrieta, 29, of South Poblacion, Valencia town, was collared on Thursday along the national highway of Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan town when he sold a shabu

(methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police agent for P500.

Police recovered from Arrieta six additional sachets of shabu placed in a cellphone case, a cellular phone, and the P1,100 cash.

The recovered illegal drugs has an estimated value of P10,000.

In Bacolod City, Nelson Dewara, 25, was arrested by operatives of Police Station 2 after he yielded three sachets of shabu, P240 cash, and the P500 marked money in a drug bust at Purok Narra

Baybay, Barangay 5 on Friday.
