PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has officially declared October 21 as a special non-working day in the province of Negros Oriental through Presidential Proclamation 63, which was approved on September 19 through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
The proclamation marks the celebration of the Buglasan Festival of Festivals in Negros Oriental on October 14 to 23, with more than 80 events lined up for the affair. It allows the people of Negros Oriental to celebrate and participate in the festival.
The Provincial Government has allotted a total of P6 million for several events and subsidy for each local government unit participating in the Freedom Fair Booth and festival competitions.
Governnor Roel Degamo announced recently that there are at least eight competing festivals from different local government units on October 21.
The participating festivals are from Bais City, Hudyaka sa Bais; Dumaguete City’s Sandurot; Mabinay, Langub festival; Anihan festival, Manjuyod; Pakol Festival of Sta. Catalina; Inagta festival, Siaton; Yagyag festival, Sibulan; Bodbod festival of Tanjay City; Guinhulugan festival of Guihulngan City; and Hambabalud of Jimalalud.
Some 18 municipalities and cities have participated in the Freedom Fair Booth, which will be launched on October 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Capitol Forefront. At 8 p.m. is the presentation of Miss Negros Oriental Tourism, which wills be followed by a grand fireworks display.
To decongest the huge crowd turnout expected during the festival, the Buglasan main events will be spread out in the following venues: Freedom Park, Sidlakang Negros Village, Rizal Boulevard, and Robinson's Place. (PIA)
