Drug kingpin’s ‘right-hand’ falls in drug bust

THE alleged right-hand man of a suspected big-time drug pusher was caught during a buy-bust in Barangay Basdiot, Moalboal last Wednesday night.

Senior Insp. Narciso Abapo, the town police chief, identified the suspect as Artfell Abrasado, 33.

Abrasado, who reportedly works for a drug kingpin in southwestern Cebu, told investigators he gets his supply from Cebu City.

Abapo, in a phone interview, said they seized 23 sachets of white crystals believed to be shabu from the suspect during the operation, which took place around 9:45 p.m.

The contraband had an estimated street value of P17,000.

He said they placed Abrasado under surveillance after the suspect did not surrender during Oplan Tokhang.

Police had received information that Abrasado’s superior had instructed him to take over the business.

In Cebu City, operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7-Metro Cebu arrested two suspected drug personalities in Barangay Lorega San Miguel around 6:30 p.m.

Supt. Fermin Armendarez III, CIDG 7 assistant director, identified the suspects as Nicolas Villacarillo and Mary Jean Cañete.

Four medium packs of shabu were seized from them.

An hour earlier, anti-narcotics operatives of Liloan Police Station led by Chief Insp. Franco Rudolf Oriol caught three suspects during a buy-bust.

They were identified as siblings Peter John, Honey Christian and Jason David Marquez.

The suspects will face complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, before the city and provincial prosecutors’ offices.
