Northern Mindanao police receives 127 motorcycles

IN AN EFFORT to boost police capability to fight crime, the police distributed 127 brand new Kawasaki Rouser motorcycles to the different police stations across Northern Mindanao on Thursday, October 6, in Camp Vicente Alagar, Cagayan de Oro.

Bukidnon police received 24 units, Camiguin (7), Lanao del Norte (24), Iligan City (7), Misamis Occidental (19), Misamis Oriental (27), Cagayan de Oro City (11), Regional headquarters (1), Regional Public Safety Batallion (1), Regional logistics (1), Regional Commel (1), Regional Engineering (1), Regional Finance (1), Regional Special Training Unit (1), and Regional Intelligence (1).

Two man utility trucks were also turned-over to the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao.

Superintendent Surki Sereñas, PRO-Northern Mindanao spokesperson, said the motorcycles were issued through the regular procurement program of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Sereñas said the national headquarters sees motorcycles as necessary in the conduct of police operations and disaster and emergency response.

"Gipangayo nato ni kay normally ang national headquarters ga-survey na sila unsa ang mga needs kung nakita nga kinahanglan ila nang ihatag," Sereñas said.

Sereñas said along with the additional material assets of police stations, the fuel allocation will also be increased.

"Dugangan pud na ilang gas allowance," Sereñas said.

Sereñas reminded the recipients on their liabilities and to only use the issued motorbikes for police operations and not for personal use.

"Responsibility na sa user ang maintenance. Kung madisgrasya liability na sa user ilabi na kung gigamit pa gayud sa personal unya kung nakainom pa gayud gawas nga ipa-repair sa ila kasuhan pa gayud administrative," Serenas said.

Police Chief Superintendent Noel Constantino, PRO-Northern Mindanao regional director, said the distribution of the motorcycles underscores the PNP's sincerity and commitment to its on-going intensified campaign against drugs, crime and corruption by addressing mobility as the most pressing need besetting the organization.

"It will surely bring material advantages to their move capacity and it will also boost their capability during police responses," Constantino said.

"I challenge all the personnel under this command to live up the expectations. Fight until the last threat to the peace and development of Northern Mindanao has been neutralized or placed behind bars," Constantino added.
