Moises Padilla vice mayor, 22 cops negative of drugs

MOISES Padilla Vice Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo and the 22 town policemen yielded negative results in the surprise drug test conducted by the Municipal Health Office on Thursday.

Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, chief of Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station, said Garcia-Yulo and the 22 uniformed personnel, including him, and the station’s three non-uniformed personnel submitted their urine samples at the mayor’s office.

The test was conducted upon the instruction of Mayor Magdaleno Peña, but he was not present during the test as he was still in Bacolod City.

Reloj said another drug test is set for the municipal councilors soon.

On Monday, the municipal police station initiated a drug test among the 126 male municipal personnel wherein Councilor Jolomar Hilario and his son, Francis, and regular employee Emilio Catague were found positive for illegal drug use. The three were released from detention after 18 hours upon the advice of Peña.

On Tuesday, another batch underwent the same procedure, including nine out of the municipality’s 15 barangay captains, who all yielded negative results.

Last week, Reloj said they also started the conduct of drug test among the drug surrenderers subjected to Oplan Tokhang in the barangays as part of their monitoring.

As of October 6, the town has 109 drug surrenderers.
