Sara Duterte lauds arrest of Davao bombing suspects

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio lauded the arrest of Davao blast suspects in the Roxas night market bombing that killed 15 people and left more than 70 people injured.

The three suspects were captured on October 4 in Cotabato City and were presented in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on Friday afternoon.

"The arrest of the suspected perpetrators of the September 2 bombing in Davao City is a welcome development to the operations of our law enforcers for their immediate capture," Duterte-Carpio said in a statement issued by City Information Office on Friday afternoon.

The mayor added the said development is commendable as they vowed to give justice to the victims of the bombing.

Duterte, however, reiterated that it is important that the arrest must also lead to the dismantling of the terror groups to prevent more senseless acts of violence and extremism.

Lorenzana, in the press conference, said they recovered bomb-making explosives, a cellular phone, which contained the video after the bomb was detonated in the night market, machine gun, and a caliber .45 pistol.

Lorenzana added that the materials they recovered means the group plans to explode the bomb somewhere else.

The mayor also challenged Dabawenyos to continue to be vigilant.

"Let us continue to be vigilant and show the world that we do not surrender to fear nor do we allow terrorism to cripple our humanity and undermine our values. Daghang Salamat!" Duterte said. (With KVC/And Sunnex)
