Capitol gives police P1.06M prize

THE Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) gave P1.062 million in cash incentives to operatives from seven police stations and the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB).

The police officers were awarded for their anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the confiscation of 927.26 grams of shabu from May 2 to June 28 this year.

Gov. Hilario Davide III and CPADAO chair Carmen Durano-Meca, assisted by Cebu Provincial Police Office (CCPO) Director Senior Supt. Eric Noble, turned over the amount to the police officers.

Dako ni nga tabang sa police (This will be a great help to the police). It boosts their morale,” said Supt German Mallari, who received the award. He was Talisay City police chief during the operations. He is now the head of PIB.

He said that being recognized for an accomplishment boosts the police force’s image. “Usahay ang makit-an ang sayop ra sa police (Sometimes, people only see the mistakes of police),” he said.

PIB deputy chief Senior Insp. Leo Logronio said the reward will encourage them to strive for more, not only for the cash incentive but for the recognition.

Talisay City police confiscated a total of 69.67 grams of shabu in their two operations, while PIB confiscated a total of 449.02 grams in their five operations, almost half of the total drugs confiscated.

Makita nato sa miaging buwan unsa ka seryoso ug unsa ka intensified ang atong kampanya batok sa illegal nga drugas (You can see how intensified our campaign against illegal drugs is),” said Meca.

She said this is their second quarter CPADAO awarding for successful police operations for this year.

Davide also welcomed Noble to his new post.

“We in the Province are hoping that we will have a good working relationships with the police,” said Davide.

Noble encouraged his men to be more aggressive in their operations, calling them mga “apo ni Lapulapu (Lapulapu’s grandchildren).”

Logroño urged law enforcers to continue to support the programs of the administration against illegal drugs.

Nanghinaut ko sa mga drug personalities nga mobutang na og period sa ilang illegal activities (I urge drug personalities to put an end to their illegal activities),” said Meca.
