Mother dies after being run over by mixer truck

A MOTHER was killed yesterday after a mixer crushed her when she fell off a motorcycle in Barangay Lawaan 1, Talisay City.

Janet Eludo, 38, was with her two sons on board the motorcycle of Juren Manggay, 36, at the time of the accident.

They were on their way home to Camella Homes Subdivision in Barangay Lawaan 1 at 11 a.m.

SPO1 Junard Chiong of the Talisay City Traffic Division told reporters that Manggay was following the mixer truck driven by Ferdinand Gimenez while maneuvering a steep road toward the subdivision.

Manggay was trying to overtake Gimenez when they encountered another motorcycle going downhill.

Manggay reportedly tried to return to his lane quickly, but the sudden turn threw Eludo, who was sitting at the tip of the seat, off the vehicle.

Upon hitting the ground, Eludo was run over by the truck. She died instantly.

During interrogation, Gimenez told police he didn’t realize he had hit someone until he felt a bump on the road.

Detained

Gimenez and Manggay are now detained for Eludo’s death.

A relative of Eludo, who refused to identify herself, told reporters yesterday that Eludo and two of her three sons, ages 13 and 12, reportedly came from a court hearing on an annulment case she filed against her husband.

The relative said that Eludo’s three sons were staying with her mother.

During the interrogation, Manggay admitted he had no driver’s license and registration for his motorcycle.

Gimenez told reporters that the construction company he was working for is willing to help Eludo’s family with their needs.

The two men could face charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.
