Hong Kong sojourn

THREE Cebuanos who are members of the national triathlon team will be gearing up in the 2016 Hong Kong ASTC Sprint Triathlon Asian Cup in Lantau Island, Hong Kong this Saturday.

Andrew Kim Remolino and siblings Justin and Yuan Chiongbian are going to represent the country in the men’s junior elite sprint race, which features a 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run.

Yuan of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, Remolino of Talisay City Science High School and Justin arrived in Hong Kong yesterday afternoon. The other members of the PHL junior triathlon team, Julius Constantino and John Caleb Barlin, will arrive in Hong Kong today.

“I’m targeting to hopefully get sub-hour for this race,” said the 16-year-old Remolino, who will racing his third foreign event after the ASTC Japan and ASTC Singapore.

Remolino is hoping to improve his personal best of 1:03 he got in the Subic International Triathlon. Before going to Hong Kong, Remolino won the 1st Aquathlon Philippine Championships and the 2016 National Duathlon Championships.

Justin looks to continue his impressive performance after finishing as the fastest Filipino junior elite and ninth overall in the ASTC Singapore.

The PHL team will be facing formidable junior triathletes in Asia, with top-tier contenders from Hongkong and Australia.
