Falling in love with nature

LOVE is in nature.

As we celebrate our anniversary last October 10, I and Moks (Renato Roxas Jr.) have decided to spend it in a different way. Instead of the typical candlelight dinner date, we twisted it into something adventurous and extraordinary by exploring and connecting with the wonders of nature.

We ended up with a great idea to embark in an island hopping and try scuba diving in Talicud Island, Samal. We arrived at the Carabao Dive Center in Sta. Ana Wharf passed 8 a.m. (we’re late actually hehe) and paid for our reservation for the intro dive worth P850 each.

Afterwards, we boarded a huge boat with a 50 capacity that has a second deck that allows passengers to go sight-seeing. It felt refreshing as the scent of the sea passed through my nostrils. I was totally relaxed by the thought of being away from the hustle and bustle of the city life and work-related stress for a while.

It seemed to me like it was summer though we are still in the middle of October which is a rainy season. Good thing, the weather at that time had cooperated with our adventure.

Our first stop over was in Coral Dive. From the surface alone, I could see through the clear turquoise water its rich culture beneath. The corals were inviting to be touched and closely appreciated.

Unfortunately, we were not able to dive into it because we were on the second batch. Without wasting our time, we swam and snorkeled instead.

Scuba Diving experience

After we took our lunch at Dayang Beach Resort, we then moved to Mansud Wall were our turn has finally come. Before going down there, they briefed us first about the safety measures that must be observed. They taught us to practice different hand signs that would serve as our means of communication with our dive instructor underwater.

The instructor also explained how all the dive gear works and imparted simple techniques on how to dive safely. With sagacity, I tested our equipment until I make sure that I could breathe under water (hello? I don’t want to die yet). I was thankful to the dive master who never failed to check us from time to time to ensure that we are okay or not through a hand sign.

It was a bit scary at first as we were slowly descending down the sea. I kept reiterating what the dive instructor told us, from clearing our masks to popping our ears. I also controlled my breathing and trust my equipment which is the least I could do and of course, pray as well. As we delved further down the water, another world showed up. We seemed to have been transported in a different dimension. To say that the sight was stunning would just be an understatement.

When we became comfortable in moving around, we began enjoying the freeness of the water like we were pro diver. We eventually got the confidence after we were assured that everything was fine. The underwater world has offered various kinds of coral reefs piled in a sloped-wall setting then that was when I realized why it was called “Mansud Wall.”

I also saw different types of fish in various sizes and colors. It was amazing. I couldn’t help but smile all the time with their cuteness (super!).

It was indeed so peaceful down there-so quiet and calm. All I could hear was only my breath while enjoying the green world and its inhabitants. We were lucky enough to witness its natural beauty.

Isla Reta escapade

The moment we reached the resort through a habal-habal (motor), I immediately savor the feeling of peace and relief. The long shoreline is captivating as we took a walk while gazing at its finesse.

It was evident in the place how the employees have maintained the cleanliness of the area. I also appreciated the warm accommodation as the people greeted us with their huge smile.

If you are looking for a right place to go soul searching or even a site to spend a special occasion with your love ones or family, then this place is perfect for you.

For instance, I have even seen during that time a couple having a prenup pictorial and enjoying the romantic atmosphere of the location, thus, this must be a go-to for beach-themed events.

Certainly, only those who lack nature appreciation would not fall in love with the island’s natural charm and tranquility as the panoramic landscape offers rich scenery that are instagram and blog worthy.
