‘Drug pusher’ shot dead in Alcantara

A 24-YEAR-OLD suspected drug pusher was shot to death by two men riding on a motorcycle in Barangay Palanas, Alcantara last Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the suspect as John Anthony Elarcosa Kilaton, a resident of the barangay.

The victim died after he succumbed to several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body even after his fellow employees rushed him to a public hospital.

Kilaton surrendered to the police last July 8 during an Oplan Tokhang and was released after he promised not to engage in the illegal drug trade anymore.

The victim, who had no pending drug cases in court, was caught by the police last Aug. 24 after he figured in a trouble alarm. He was also released after he paid the fine.

Before the incident at 3:45 p.m., the two unknown assassins arrived outside the workplace of the victim.

Witnesses told the police that the passenger disembarked and approached the victim.

When he was near his target, the gunman pulled out his firearm from his waistband.

The gunman fired several times at the Kilaton, who still managed to run away from the assassin.

The perpetrators chased the victim and shot him again. Afterward, the culprits walked back to their motorcycle and fled.

Fellow employees of the victim rushed him to the Badian District Hospital, where Dr. Jonathan Tanduyan declared him dead on arrival.

Investigators found seven empty shells of .45 pistol at the crime scene.

The incident is under investigation.
