Ex-village official falls in Isabela City drug bust

A FORMER village official yielded P200,000 worth of illegal drugs and a firearm when arrested in a drug bust in Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.

Arrested was Obin Talib, the former village chief of Marsada, Panglima Estino, Sulu, according to Inspector Sonny boy Perez, anti-drug special operations task group chief of Isabela City.

Perez said Talib was arrested around 5:49 p.m., Monday, October 17, at the compound of the Provincial Engineer’s Office in the village of Eastside, Isabela City.

Talib was arrested after he sold a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," to an undercover policeman.

Recovered from the possession of Talib were 18 sachets of shabu with an estimated P200,000 market value, a calibre .45 pistol with eight live ammunition.

Talib was detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him.
