BENGUET’S capital town has reactivated its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) as it prepares for the impact of typhoon Lawin.
La Trinidad MDRRM Officer Yoshio Labi said with the entry of typhoon Lawin within the Philippine’s area of responsibility, the town immediately conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment.
Labi added the different Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council was also activated following an administrative order from Mayor Romeo Salda while information dissemination or alert operations, massive warning and monitoring to landslide prone areas, flood prone areas, suspension of small scale mining, and quarrying activities were also conducted by their office.
Labi added the council is also prepared for pre-emptive evacuation if necessary while suspension of outdoor activities, media dissemination, imposition of liquor ban, and roving of information regarding typhoon will be conducted by their office.
The MDRRM officer sought the help of the community in removing billboards and signages, secure houses during the calamity, report structural and agricultural damages, report casualties at 0939-990-0789 or to the Mayor's Office at 442-2601 and Police Office at 422-4344.
In the provincial level, Benguet has also activated the provincial DDRM councils and while suspension of small scale mining activities continue since October 14.
