Unidentified gunmen kill 2 suspected murderers

TWO suspects in the slaying of Annalou Llaguno were killed by unidentified gunmen in Cebu City, 15 hours apart.

Michael Lendio, who was celebrating his birthday, was shot dead last Monday night on J.M. Basa St. in Barangay San Nicolas.

Richard Jungoy was killed yesterday on C. Padilla St. in Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

Llaguno, who was romantically linked to drug lords Kerwin Espinosa and Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz, was killed last Sept. 30. She was allegedly responsible for tipping police off about Diaz’s whereabouts in Las Piñas City, which resulted in the latter’s death during an encounter with authorities last June 17.

“During our investigation, we were able to identify one of the victims through the artist’s sketch provided by the witness that he had killed Llaguno,” Cebu City Director Joel Doria said in Tagalog.

“Hired gun”

Police believed that Lendio, 41, was a gun-for-hire in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, while Jungoy was a pusher.

Around 9 p.m. last Monday, Lendio was drinking with two friends to celebrate his 41st birthday when two unidentified men arrived on board a motorcycle.

The passenger got off and shot the victim several times, followed by the driver, who also pumped more bullets into the victim’s body.

“We were hot on his trail because we needed him alive so that he could pinpoint who the two other suspects were but he was killed first,” Doria said.

Six empty shells of 9mm, an empty shell from a .45 pistol and a deformed slug.

Jungoy was also gunned down by two unidentified gunmen around 3 p.m. yesterday. He was on his way to a store to buy cigarettes, when the attack took place.

Recovered from the scene were seven empty shells from a .45 pistol.

Police were about to serve a warrant for Jungoy’s arrest after he was spotted in the barangay.

He had a standing warrant for frustrated homicide and murder.

The victim hailed from Barangay Guadalupe and was on the drugs watch list of the police station.

Possible motive

Jungoy also had a tattoo on his left shoulder that reads “TEAM JAG” and “Victor Diolan.”

A certain Victor Diolan, who hails from San Fernando town, is serving time at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center for two counts of murder.

However, police have yet to confirm if he is the man Jungoy’s tattoo is referring to.

Meanwhile, police are looking into the possibility that Lendio and Jungoy were killed because police had discovered they were behind Llaguno’s death.

“Their cohorts got to them first,” Doria said in Tagalog.

In an earlier interview, Doria said Llaguno’s family was not interested in filing charges against the suspects in her death.

Llaguno, a businesswoman, was reportedly the ex-wife of Espinosa, the suspected drug lord of Eastern Visayas, who was recently arrested in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.

She was also reportedly the former lover of Diaz, who was considered as Cebu biggest drug lord.
