BBEAL Wushu to push through

WITH typhoon Lawin finally out of the country, wushu competitions in the Baguio - Benguet Educational Athletic League will push through.

The Wushu Federation of the Philippines in an advisory said games in taulo and sanda will go on a scheduled for the 30th season of the BBEAL.

Taulo will see action at the UC gym today with medals up for grabs in the Tai Chi Quan, Chang Quan, San Lu Quan, Nan Qaun, Jung Shu, Nan Dao, Tai Chi Jian for both male and female category.

In sanda, medals will also be up for grabs in the 45 kgs, 82 kgs, 56 kgs, 60 kgs, and 65 kgs for the female category while the 70 kgs will be added in the male division, which will be held at the Wushu Training Center in Camp 7.

University of the Cordilleras is set to defend both sanda and taulo over-all title against last year’s second placer University of Baguio and the Saint Louis University.

Philippine Military Academy, Cordillera Career Development College and Benguet State University are expected to field their team in sanda while Pines City College is expected to see action in taulo.

International multi medalist Daniel Parantac, a former UC Jaguars stand out stressed to coaches and players to train and encourage more athletes to participate in the tournament.

“Sana mag-effort and mga coaches na mapadami pa ang wushu players kasi kumokonti na. Sa mga athletes, sana huwag land BBEAL ang aim nila, aim sila ng higher competitions like the National Games or sa mga international competitions, pati na rin mga coaches, he said. (Sharma Buteng)
