Milo BEST–Baguio leg finals on today

DEFENDING champions Berkeley School and Saint Louis University - Laboratory High School will have their hands full as they gun for the crown in the SBP and passerelle division of the Milo BEST center Twin Tournament at the Easter College.

Berkeley will gun for an unprecedented fifth crown in the small basketeers of the Philippines division as it takes on a gritty University of the Cordilleras Grade School while SLU-LHS tangles with first time finalist Berkeley today.

SLU - LHS returned to the finals after making short work of UC High School in their semis match - up last week.

The passerelle defending champion however will be pitted against the unheralded Berkeley who made it to the finals for the first time after stunning Saint Louis College of La Union, 73 - 69 last week.

In the SBP division, UC Grade School is set to challenge Berkeley’s dominance in the nine to 11 after pulling off a 48 – 47 squeaker against SLU Laboratory Elem. School.

Game time for the finals between UC and Berkeley starts at 10:30 a.m. followed by the SLU-LHS – Berkeley tussle at 11:45.

Prior to the finals, SLC - LU and SLU - LES tangles in the battle for third in the SBP division which starts at 8:00 in the morning followed by the UC and SLC - LU match - up in the passerelle's battle for third.

The tournament features unique rules wherein a team must field a new set of five players for each of the first three periods. The coach may then play any combination he wishes for the final canto, thus guaranteeing each player a minimum of 10 minutes of court time.

It is also a perfect opportunity for MILO BEST Center students to apply what they have learned during the summer sports clinic founded by coach Nic Jorge.
