Execs bare short, long-term projects for Sto. Tomas town

SANTO TOMAS -- Representative Juan Pablo "Rimpy" Bondoc (Pampanga, 4th district) and Mayor Johnny Sambo bared some of the short- and long-term projects for the development of this town over the weekend.

Sambo, who has been working hand-in-hand with Bondoc to bring progress in the seven barangays of this fourth class municipality, said that he is maximizing his last three years in office to provide inclusive growth for the people.

He disclosed some of his short-term plans including installation of LED streetlights on national, municipal and barangay roads as well as concreting of still unpaved thoroughfares and various clean and green programs.

"Isa sa pangarap natin ay gawing maliwanag ang bawat kanto ng ating bayan nang sa gayon kahit pinakamaliit ang aming bayan ay maging pinakamaliwanag din," he said, adding that the local government is allocating some P4.8-million for the project.

Aside from this, improvement of disaster management projects are also in place such as clearing and declogging of waterways and tributaries, installation of water pumps and purchase of generators to be used in times of calamities, among others, to minimize the effects of flooding in town.

The local government is also set to acquire eight municipal vehicles for education, health, engineering, general services office, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and police force as well as construction of municipal park, mortuary and training center in Barangay San Matias here.

"Dahil gusto po natin ay progreso para sa bawat Tomasian, gusto po natin ay lahat makikinabang. Itong mga vehicles at facilities na ito ay para po sa convenience ng bawat isa," he said.

To generate enough funds for the said projects, Sambo said he is also planning to create a one-stop shop business licensing center and improvement of business tax collection system to attract more investors, especially multinationals, to do business here.

Meanwhile, Bondoc said that the national government will also be allocating funds for several long term projects in town including construction of community hospital, community college and distribution of housing units to indigent Tomasians.

He also disclosed of the proposed dredging of rivers from seven meters to 12 meters deep in Barangay San Vicente to Barangay San Bartolome here.

The solon also reiterated the projected construction of North Luzon Expressway interchange in Barangay Sto. Rosario Pau here and development of Pasac-Culcul road leading to Macabebe and Masantol, which will spur development here.

Bondoc said that implementation of the said will start at the third quarter of 2017 after the comprehensive engineered planning.

"Nabigyan po kami ng tatlong taon, kasama si Mayor John, at gusto natin may maideliver tayong project sa kanila sa loob ng panahon na 'yun," he stressed.
