Fraternity group taps Facebook for prayers for abducted sailor

A FACEBOOK post asking for support and prayers for a Cebuano sailor kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf bandits on Thursday, October 20, is fast gaining a following.

As of 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, the Facebook post by Triskelion Radio already has 1,100 likes and 870 shares. It was posted on October 23, Sunday, at 6:02 p.m.

The post showed a photo of Glenn Alindajao, a master mariner, with the text "Stay Strong Brod Glenn Alindajao Cebu Triskelions."

Alindajao was abducted by the bandit group on October 20 together with Park Chul Hong, the skipper of the Korean ship M/V Dong Bang Giant 2, as it was bound for South Korea.

They were intercepted by 10 Abu Sayyaf bandits aboard a speed boat in the waters of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, around 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

Alindajao's mother, Pablita, has appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte for help during a television interview: "Mr. President, I appeal for your help because we can't do this on our own. This is too much for us."

Triskelion or the Tau Gamma Phi is one of the largest fraternities in the country. It has established groups in the United States, Middle East and some countries in Europe.

The message of the post urges for prayers and safety of Alindajao among his fraternity brothers and sisters.

"Mga kapatid pagdasal po natin ang kaligtasan ng isa nating kapatid na si Brod Glenn Alindajao from Cebu Triskelion isa sa mga crew ng barko na bihag ngayon ng Abu Sayyaf," the message reads.

In the comments box, George Jabagat said: "Tol manalig ka. Ang tunay na lion matapang may puso at dangal."

Jerwin Bueno Loreniana said: "Brod wlang lion na sumuko...tibayan mo loob mo..mkalabas qa rin sa mga kamay nila."

The post, however, did not escape political exchange when Gila Marino Colipapa commented, "Trust in the Lord not Pres Duterte."

A commenter John Michael bonabon replied with, "Naulitika pa talaga?"

Several other posts asking for prayers and safety of the abducted Cebuano sailor is also circulating on Facebook.
