A MECHANIC is now under observation at the Pines City Doctor’s Hospital after he was gunned down by still unidentified suspects.

The victim was identified by July Day Manarang, 32, and a mechanic residing at Happy Homes.

Baguio City Police Office Station 2 chief Marlo Evasco said around 4:40 p.m. on October 25, unidentified gunmen shot the victim while working in front of Joey's Machine Shop along Bokawkan road.

Based on initial investigation conducted SPO4 Philip Dawang and PO2 Fernando Ansong, Manarang’s co – worker heard three gunshots and noticed the victim running from the sidewalk towards the back of the shop.

Byron Mercado, noticed the victim was holding on to his chest and was bleeding. Mercado immediately called on the attention of his co – workers and brought Manarang to the hospital.

Evasco meanwhile said the victim is a suspected small time drug pusher who is under the watch of the authorities.

Scene of the Crime Operatives processed the place of incident but failed to recover any slug or fired cartridge shell.

Since July this year, at least 21 have already killed in the war against drugs in the city with only four killed in a legitimate police operation. As of October 18 a total of 1,357 were already arrested or surrendered to authorities.
