KIANGAN, Ifugao -- A cooperative producing “Tinawon” rice in the province received a rice dryer equipment from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its Shared Service Facility (SSF) project.

The SSF turned over to the Terraces Farmers’ Cooperative (RTFC) at Hucab, Kiangan is composed of two units collapsible flatbed dryer, two pieces grain moisture meter and two pieces band sealer.

Members of the RTFC lauded the DTI and the Department of Agriculture for providing the facility that would help to increase the quality of their production for the global market.

The “Tinawon” is an heirloom rice of Ifugao, which is being exported to the United States and other international markets.

The SSF is a strategic project under the banner of the DTI to help Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs).

“Getting on the big push for MSMEs program, the SSF project is one of the pillars towards industrial progress which aims to increase production capacities, improve product quality and reduce processing costs of MSMES to help achieve the goal of poverty reduction with inclusive growth,” DTI explained.
