BCDA, 2 Japanese firms ink pact for Clark Green City

MABALACAT CITY — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two Japanese corporations for the development of the key features of the planned Clark Green City.

The entry of the Japanese companies -- Hitachi Asia Limited and The Power Grid Solution Limited -- was a result of President Rodrigo Duterte’s state visit to Japan.

Under the partnership, the Japanese firms will be allowed to conduct feasibility studies for the Clark Green City, specifically for establishing an energy management system, an energy storage system, a district cooling system, and a total energy network system through the establishment of a private utility company.

The MOU was signed by the officials of BCDA and the two Japanese firms on October 26.

The feasibility studies, estimated at P10 million, are expected to be finished within six months.

The BCDA said that the partnerships with the Japanese companies underscore the continuing ties between the Philippines and Japan.

BCDA officials see the partnerships as further bolstering the current administration’s vision to sustain the country’s growth through more infrastructure and economic projects.
