A gathering of beauties

THE 82 stunning candidates of Miss Earth 2016 once again sizzled the runway as they flaunted their perfect figures during the resort wear competition last October 14 at Pearl Farm Beach Resort in Samal Island, Davao del Norte.

Hosted by the only five-Star resort in Mindanao, the 82 gorgeous ladies across the world nailed and confidently paraded their best summer outfits and walked around the poolside area. Each environment-savvy beauty owned the spotlight as they proudly introduced themselves and the country they represent.

Getting the gold was never easy as the contenders underwent the scrutiny of the panel of judges including Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo, Pearl Farm Beach Resort General Manager Josu Mikel Villaverde, Anflocor Group of Companies Senior Vice President (SVP) Ricardo Floirendo, Igacos Mayor Al David Uy and Phoenix Representative Dorelane Bossh.

As the twilight dominated the sky which gives a scenic picturesque background that fits to the prestige event, the candidate has proven their caliber to be the title bearer of the night. Miss Lebanon Carole Kahwagi and Miss Ecuador Katherine Espin emerged as the gold medalist in their respective groups. The latter was also awarded as Miss Phoenix Petroleum.

According to the GM Villaverde, it was an honor to host the beautiful event since it was the first time in the history that the homegrown beauty pageant is able to hold their ancillary event here in Mindanao.

He also cited the three similarity of the pageant from the aesthetic to the green advocacy of the resort. He said that just like the ladies, Pearl Farm is also beautiful and there’s no doubt on that. And just like the delegates who went through many processes to be in their foot, the world-class resort had also endured several accreditations in order to be one of the finest beach resorts in the island.

Aside from those, what makes Miss Earth organization comparable is its shared advocacy in protecting the environment and promoting green projects to preserve the natural beauty of nature in which PF has also been recognized.

“Our cause is very much connected to the cause of Miss Earth which is the protection of the environment and it was the Association of Southeast Asian (Asean) countries that accredited us as the green hotel awardee,” Villaverde bared in his opening remarks.

On one hand, Tourism Secretary Teo said in an interview that she had a hard time selecting the winners as they appeared equally beautiful and sophisticated which is manifested in their sexy yet classy attire.

Also, present during the event are the reigning beauty queens Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong and Miss Earth Air 2015 Dayanna Grageda.

The glamorous night did not end yet. Pearl Farm had also prepared entertainment with the manic beats from Davao’s prime DJs Torch Gacuma and Mike Mayer. There were also fire dancers and minute-long fireworks display which made the night extra astounding.

Meanwhile, the winners of Miss Earth 2016 will be announced today, October 29, 2016 at the the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Ong will crown her successor-the lady who shines among the rest.
