4 more suspects in Davao City bombing arrested

FOUR more suspects in the September 2 bombing in Davao City were arrested Saturday in a joint operation by military, police and national intelligence agency, the Army's public affairs office said.

The suspects were identified as Mohammad Lalaog Chenikandiyil, alias Datu Boi; Jackson Mangulamas Usi, alias Abu Mansor/Jam; Zack Villanueva Lopez, alias Haron; and Ansan Abdulla Mamasapano, alias Abu Hamsa, all members of the Dawla Islamiya Fi Cotabato–Maute Group.

They were caught in different locations in Cotabato City, where three suspects allegedly behind the bombing were arrested last October 4.

The locations of the group's hideouts were identified through the information relayed by an action agent and collaborated by the follow-up operations made after the arrest last October 4 of the three terrorists.

The arresting teams were armed with search warrants issued by Executive Judge Banzawan Ibrahim of Cotabato City Regional Trial Court branch 13.

Firearms, ammunition and explosives were recovered during the joint operations.

Reports said the authorities are pursuing more than a dozen personalities involved in last month's bombing in the Davao City.

"We will not stop until all involved in the Davao bombing incident last September are put in jail," Lieutenant General Eduardo Año, the Army commander, said.

"The Army will continue haunting other terrorists for the protection of the public and to serve justice," he added.

The four arrested suspects are now under the custody of the local PNP.

Last week, the Department of Justice has indicted three suspects for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and RA 9561 or the Illegal Possession of Explosives Law in connection with last month's bombing. (Sunnex)
